Also remember that Ole said he was difficult to work with too - you can see he's hard to be around with Portugal as well just watch the games. Also how is "not even a coach" Ragnick doing right now? All that being said, he is STILL a great player and gives 100% on the pitch and in training. We should have never signed him back in the first place.

Le Tiss was an amazing player. A joy to watch, and had he been at Arsenal, or United, he'd be held in the regard that he deserves to be, but isn't because he was at Southampton. England have been failing and boring for most of the time since 1974. That's 50 years. The charge against Southgate is that he has a wonderful crop of gifted players. But that was also true in the Rooney era; the Gerard, Scholes, Lampard team; the Shearer, Sheringham, Lineker, Gascoigne, teams - to name some of our best players. You should be asking what is common to all these different teams and managers? The answer is that they weren't good enough to win tournaments. England has produced no world class managers in this period and those who get mentioned in this category - Venables, Clough, Robson - are lightweight compared to the best internationally. The same is true of most of our great players. The evidence of 50 years can't be put down to bad luck.

But if England play that way, they wont progress beyond the semis or finals. They wont get there in the first place. Southgate plays a conservative brand of football because he has to. England have NOT got the players to play any other way. Watch how the continentals play. They kill the ball stone dead with one touch and move it on the half turn They ate comfortable with the ball under pressure. Thats why they move the ball comfortably in the most crowded parts of the field the midfield, Where most goals are made. Most England players lack this skill with the possible exception of Bellingham. Its why most England attacks come from the flanks, the one part of the pitch where offensive players have the time and space . they dont get in the centre. .
